When we did our original itinerary we didn’t expect to go to Pucon but it was a fantastic place to visit. This gave us the opportunity to get to the Argentinian Lakes District by bus from Pucon. First stop, San Martin De Los Andes. Border control was easier than the road over the Andes to Santiago. Just passport checks either side. They say don’t take food over the border but no one checked. Maybe I shouldn’t have eaten all those peanuts as we approached the control post! Also no luggage x rays. One unexpected thing as we went over the high point was a forest of monkey puzzle trees
