About an hour from La Serena inland is Vicuña which is right in the middle of the Elqui Valley. First impressions were great. It’s quiet and safe with plenty to do (star gazing, cycling, pisco) – more on those later.

The town itself isn’t much to speak about. Like an out of season Redcar without the amusements. However there is a 6 mile beach with some great restaurants and great wine so all is good.
