Montevideo is only a couple of hours on the bus from Colonia and is the capital of Uruguay. On the first afternoon I walked along the promenade adjacent to the old town (Montevideo has 14km of promenade) . A few missed opportunities here. No amusements, no fish and chips, no lemon tops, no buckets & spades and no donkey rides. There was, however, a lot of joggers, no doubt enjoying the smell of rotting fish. I am hoping better promenades await further up the coast!
