There’s a lot of stairs
And a cat that dares
I feel a song coming on…
As mentioned, this hotel is at the top of a hill and then up a pile of stairs. The views were panoramic so it did what it said on the tin. But this was a truly memorable experience. We were one of two couples staying in what was quite a big hotel. It felt we were rattling round a bit (not quite like The Shining). We sat outside looking down on the village drinking what they were calling Scottish Export beer and what I later discovered was a Pampas Fox just walked by. They informed us they had two kinds of food , pizzas or meat platters. We went for the pizza option as we conversed with the lady running the place and a cat sat on the bar. We were invited to define exactly what we wanted on the pizza from a 4 ingredients list (tomato, cheese, garlic and ham). We went for the first 3 (didn’t want to appear greedy). Then we asked if we could have some wine. This caused a back room discussion for some time before it was revealed we could have a glass each (perhaps our doctors had called ahead). Surprisingly, the pizza was great and the wine was excellent (could have done with a bit more). The next night we went for the meat platter which attracted the cat. He just wouldn’t give up and planted himself on an ornamental branch of wood high above our table ready to pounce. Eventually we had to give him some ham. Why eat here you ask. Well the village was a 20 min walk downhill but there were no lights to guide the way. We had already had lunch in the village so we stuck to the hotel for the evening. As we left the hotel for the bus station, the hotel people gave us a lift. Lovely people,
